Fall Fundraiser Our 2nd Annual Fall Fundraiser "There's No Place Like
Home" will be held on Friday, September 24,
2010 in the Tuscan Ballroom at the School of Hotel, Restaurant and
Tourism Management at the University of Denver.There will be two carving stations, hand-crafted heavy appetizers, exclusive Italian wines, a silent auction and a live auction. Join us on Tuesday, September 28 at 1:30 pm for a movie matinee. We'll provide the popcorn, candy, and soda! The movie is titled "In the company of strangers", a story about a group of older women who are stranded in the country when the bus in which they are riding breaks down. The women in the movie paly themselves, none are professional actors, nor did they know each other until they went on the bus trip. The movie is about their resilience and ability to form relationshipe with each other, and has been referred to as "daring and unique." October Event "Movement is Medicine" Saturday,

Club, 2020 S Monroe Would you
take a medicine that lowered your blood pressure, controlled your blood sugar,
improved your memory, decreased pain, and slowed the aging process? There
is such a medicine. It's called MOVEMENT. Physical
activity can influence these conditions and many more. Join us for a
presentation titled "Movement is Medicine", presented by Kent Dawson, DPT, at
Heritage Club Denver on Saturday, October 2nd at 10 am. The presentation
will identify all the many benefits of physical activity as well as simple
suggestions for seniors to follow to start their own exercise program. Wellness Clinic We sponsor a Wellness Clinic
once a week, Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. It is held
alternately at two locations, one on the east side of Washington Park
and the other on the west side. The west side clinic is located in the
Washington Street Community Center, 809 S. Washington St. on the first
& third Tuesday, and the east side clinic is held at the University
Park United Methodist Church at the corner of University Blvd and Warren
St. on the second and fourth Tuesday. The clinics are free and open to the public. No appointment is necessary, and the clinics are staffed by a registered nurse from the Dominican Sisters Home Health Agency. Come in and get a blood pressure check, a sugar test for diabetes, or to ask any question you may have about a medication you are taking, or any other general health issue. Washington Park Cares members may call for a ride if they need one, and one of our volunteers will drive you to the clinic. Walk in the park Every
Thursday: Walk with us in Washington Park. Meet at the Wynken Blynken
and Nod statue at Exposition and Franklin Streets at 7:30 am sharp!Dinner Out Our
monthly Wednesday dinner out for September will again be a picnic in
the park. Join us on Wednesday September 15th at 6:00 pm at picnic area
#3 in Washington Park. Enter off the corner of Franklin and
Mississippi. The cost is $10 per person. Bring your own beverage and
WPC will supply food, plates, silverware and glasses. Reservations are

Book Club The
September Book Club meeting will be on Saturday, September 25th at
11:00 am, in the Community Room at Whole Foods on Washington Street.
The book for September is "Strength in What Remains" by Tracey Kidder.
